Since 1991, our playground equipment has included recycled or recyclable components in as many practical ways as possible. By reducing our carbon footprint, we are doing our part, and in turn you are doing your part, to protect the earth’s resources. What’s more, Grounds For Play takes pride in the fact that we manufacture our superior quality playgrounds and other outdoor equipment right here in America, which allows us to have even more control over our carbon footprint.

Child-Friendly, Low Maintenance, and a Slip-Resistant Surface for Play

Our recycled posts and decks look like wood but without unwanted maintenance! This material is made from post-consumer plastic products, like milk jugs and detergent bottles. Neat, right? These reinforced posts and decks are vandal-resistant and resistant to rotting, splitting, cracking, or splinters. Additionally, the posts have UV additives to protect from fading and are resistant to termites, marine borers, salt spray, oil, and fungus (making them perfect for coastal areas!). Let’s see just how great our sustainable posts and decks are.

GreenCircle Certified

Our post and decking supplier has the Recycled Content Certification by GreenCircle. This certification qualifies their compliance with all Federal Trade Commission (FTC) 2012 Green Guidelines.

ISO 14001 Certified

ISO industry certification processes are issued by the International Organization for Standardization and one of our playground manufacturing facilities is ISO 14001 certified. This certification, also known as the “Green Certification,” specifies the requirements of an organization having an Environmental Management System (EMS), which means we control the environmental impact our products and processes have on the environment.

U.S. Green Building Council

The USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system is one of the world’s best-recognized certification programs. Projects pursuing LEED certification earn points for various green building strategies. The materials used to create the posts, decks, stairs, bridges, and climbers meet the criteria for obtaining LEED points.
