The Challenge

Balmorhea ISD wanted to create a modern and sustainable play environment that reflected the district’s school spirit and provided safe, shaded spaces for students to play. With West Texas temperatures often soaring, shade coverage and durability were top priorities.

Our Solution

We designed and installed two new playgrounds—each tailored to specific age groups and developmental needs.

  • GFP-30006-1 Playground: Designed for children ages 5–12, this structure encourages active, adventurous play through climbing and sliding elements.

  • GFP-30292 Playground: Designed for ages 2–12, this playground offers a range of activities suited for younger and mixed-age play.

To ensure comfort and safety, both play areas are fully covered by large shade structures that protect children from the harsh Texas sun. Each structure proudly features the district’s signature blue and white color scheme, reinforcing school pride and visual unity across the campus.

Sustainable Design

Both playgrounds were built using recycled post and decking materials, offering a durable and eco-friendly solution that stands up to heavy daily use.

Finishing Touches

The playgrounds are completed with low-maintenance turf surfacing, providing a clean, cushioned, and inviting play environment that minimizes upkeep and maximizes longevity.

The Result

The new Balmorhea ISD playgrounds now provide students with engaging, age-appropriate spaces to learn through play—protected from the elements and built to last. The combination of sustainability, style, and functionality makes this project a perfect example of how thoughtful design can enhance education and community pride.
